This perennial is useful for adding vertical interest in a border. From a rosette of grey-blue, grassy leaves arise tall, distinctly upright stems bearing spikes of fragrant, bright yellow, star-like flowers during late spring. These give way to decorative seed pods like shiny green marbles which eventually dry to crinkled brown. Fantastic in dry and gravel gardens.
