Compact, spreading, deciduous shrub with prominent, corky ridges on the branches. It is inconspicuous for most of the year but in autumn it comes into its own when the leaves turn rosy-red. The small green flowers in early summer are insignificant. It’s perfect for growing as a specimen shrub in a mixed border where it’s magnificent autumn colour can be fully appreciated.
